Stabil v Seafoam

Mostly been using Stabil but have read that Seafoam mixes better and cleans better than Stabil which forms a surface layer to inhibit condensation. Over the years have thought of a water/fuel separator but have not done this. I run my "glorified lawnmotor" frequently, the EFI thus far has not had any of the previous carb model
Hiccups.

I guess "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I will continue to use Stabil. I am changing fuel filters more frequently since the EFI requires a smaller micron size filter.

Re: Stabil v Seafoam

I've been using Stabil forever with my EFI Mudbuddy SD. No issues with fuel filter, but I also have a water separator/filter. I only run non-ethanol fuel and have had no issues so far. It's kinda like the debate over Fords and Chevys... both are good it's just how you care for them. If what you're doing works keep doing it!

Real good! Stabil will do it! I put the high octane gas in the tank as well. The rec fuel station is far from me otherwise that is a good suggestion. I have had to order
Filters online, local stores have run out of inventory and have not restocked them. Cut my trail this morning because I can't just sit around- motor ran well!

Re: Stabil v Seafoam

When I managed the large yard at Ocean Reef Club at the end the season we would add the appropriate amount of Stabil to our fuel tanks so that every boat that was going out before the end of the season was sure to have Stabil run through it. The 400 plus boats that we laid up would have a mixture of Stabil added into the new water separator filters and then we would run the engines for approx 10 to 15 minutes and then shut them off. The "cheap skates" that didn't want to properly lay their boat motors up were still saved

Once we started to add the Stabil to the main in ground tank we went from having 50 to 75 boats with gummed up carbs and injectors to virtually 2 or 3 and these were boats that sat "dead" for over 2 years plus.....Lost a LOT of carb rebuild work but it would all hit at once and we were really glad to not have all those boat owners impatiently waiting for their motors to run
