Frog Spit, Gator Glide, Quick Slick, Steelflex?

Did my 1648 hull with Steelflex five years ago. Time to recoat! Used only 1/3 of gallon. Which is best? Costs are generally @100$ per gallon. Is there anybody who does this? I am presently physically unable to remove motor/ flip hull is why. I don't have a true flat hull but it sure made trailering and running in the marsh so much easier!

Steelflex on a 1436L riveted and really like it!

Been through two seasons and holding up well.

Would do steelflex again as it adds a layer of protection on the thinner gauge aluminum.

Yes, steelflex works! Believe my estimate of five years is short! Bought my 04 grizzly hull same year and remember it being very smooth new bottim, prep was easy- it is still fairly smooth but has lost slickness, it is .100 gauge and I have been careful not to abuse it, the exception being my encounters with mud rafts!

Gator glide, hands down!!! So easy to prep and apply. I will be touching some areas up next week and do not need to flip or take any motors off.

The only problem I have had with gator glide is keeping the boat on the trailer.

I hit a few submerged rocks at A-1 FEB the past few years and hull would probably be worse if I used something else than Steelflex?

My old steelflex is still fairly smooth but i definitely need, and is worth, a re-application. That just might have gotten me past the mud raft last week!

What i do know, is that the prepping is the tough part.

Raul,
I just redid my steelflex super slick. Roughed it up w some sand paper, wiped w Acetone and added a new coat. Was pretty easy.

Leon, did you flip the hull over? With my left arm limited right now is there a way to do it with boat on trailer?

Re: Frog Spit, Gator Glide, Quick Slick, Steelflex?

Since by boat hull was relatively new, i used paint remover, it came off easy, and then wiped with acetone before putting on steelflex. Did you use belt sander or rotary wire wheel ?
