Re: Goose decoy

I could claim some knowledge on ringers, 40+ years (seems like only yesterday getting my first) of hunting them. The rest you could say are exotics, but I am not one to complain, and thank God for...

Re: Goose decoy

They are cumbersome! But since I don't use many total blocks, can accomodate these! I touch them up with fresh paint before every season. Might as well have good-looking ones, countless hours they...

Re: Goose decoy

Good to hear! My logic is similar! I won't bother to change the Canada color scheme, the black /white head/neck just might attract interest from ringers. The white heron confidence decoy last season...

Re: Goose decoy

Well, must be real wishful thinking but just ordered a 4 pack of floater Flambeau Canadas for 63$! I was doing therapy for my shoulder and by the clinic there are a couple of goose decoys and they...

Goose decoy

Anybody use any goose decoy floaters here in Florida? And i mean for duck hunting! May sound crazy, but thinking of getting a used pair, maybe re-painting as super magnum duck!

Re: Steel shotshells

That is good news! Cannot rely on my local WM's. I usually order from Rogers, most time shipping is free. If i do venture north in the peninsula i will check them out!

Steel shotshells

Supply/demand issues? You bet! There are two 12 ga Kent Fasteel offerings from both Rogers and Dunns, 219$ and 229$ respectively per case of 250. Federal and Win xpert economy shells are not...

Re: Beretta fix

Also got a free simple plastic case! Very happy! My shoulder issue is a "frozen shoulder", no surgery needed, just got back from useful therapy- insurance is paying! Scewed in the IC choke to my duck...

Re: Grab bar grip

Ok! I used paracord years ago as decoy line but it was overkill, definitely is tough material!

Re: Grab bar grip

Not a bad idea using the cord! Did you use any adhesive?

Re: Sea Nymph 17' canoe WTT

Thanks for asking! I've been using economy/cheap
Federal or Win Xpert 2 3/4" or 3" 1 1/4 oz 1400 fps #3 and #4 shot, but would not rule out #2!
Right now there is a shortage of course but the past...

Re: Grab bar grip

Thank you, Bayport! The steel gets a little slippery when wet. Finally got the bar for this last season- put off buying one for a decade- sure helps on turns, when standing and running, flying over...

Stowable steel grab bar was a great buy! What would you recommend to wrap the metal to get a firmer grip?

Re: Oars for 16' jon boat

Great idea, Esteban! Seasense makes an 8' double kayak paddle for 40$! As i solo hunt a lot this will make it easier than a single paddle. Realized i don't have a middle bench for oar use, have to...

Re: Oars for 16' jon boat

Ok! May even need 8-9'oars. I have my grab bar bolted to the rail, think it will be enough.

Re: Oars for 16' jon boat

My hull is a 1648, 16" transom. Reading formulas for oar length it seems 6' or 7' would be about right. Just need some corroboration! I do have the versa track channel so i should not have to drill...

Oars for 16' jon boat

Have push pole for marsh. Paddling with one paddle is a
Pain, thinking of adding oars to my 16' grizzly, should be better for canals and open water in case of motor breakdown. Any suggestions on...

Re: Heron decoy

Yeah, i put away the motion decoys after Thanksgiving. My heron is white, I don't use coots 'cause there aren't any down this way.

Heron decoy

Discussed this previously with Billy, short story is the white heron brought in other herons, ibis, hawks, egrets, and the last few hunts, mottled ducks. This was welcome as the ringers have almost...
