sunglasses

My Wiley x shades broke...lasted at least six seasons. It came with both clear and amber lenses and grey/smoke. Used primarily for ducking and turkey hunting. Lenses held up great, the one side of frame broke, temporarily duck-taped and operable. I cannot afford Oakleys or Costa prices. Figure I could get another set, just wondering if anybody can suggest a similar quality sunglass?

Re: sunglasses

Try going to an eye doctor that is a Wiley X dealer. Maybe they can order you a new temple.

Re: sunglasses

Thanks for the suggestions! Birthday is coming up next month, maybe I will splurge. Are both the Costas and Smith models have stout legs?? seems like this is the weak point for most glasses. I had some Gargoyles years ago that had good lenses but the legs broke on both of them.
I need/prefer wide lenses for both fit and complete coverage of vision.

Re: sunglasses

I've been wearing Costa's for the last 20 years, for everything from fishing to hunting to shooting clays, and I've only been through 2 pair in that time. The first pair I broke in a bicycle crash in the Bahamas (yes, alcohol was involved but no other damage except my pride), and still using my second pair. I do keep them on a string around my neck so I don't lose them overboard, so that helps.

I like the amber lenses, they seem to work best for me while fishing, especially in shallow water, and seem to be a good overall color for what I do. But as mwk said, find an outlet and try on several styles and lens colors to see what fits you best as they are not cheap. But I guarantee you they will last a long time if you take care of them.
