Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

A most humbling hunt many years ago- i not only left my two guns in the truck, after returning for them, could not find my dozen and a half Herters 72's in the marsh. I owe much of this to fatigue...

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

Took me only one gun failure ruining a hunt to convince me to take 2. I first consulted the legality of this and now it is a routine- also proved worthwhile when another hunter's gun failed.

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

10-4 on unused scatterguns...a recent acquisition, a 70's
870 wingmaster, made it to the marsh, and scored on its first attempt- incredibly smooth action and points like a dream! My engraved BPS 20...

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

Yeah, they are made in Brazil, guess the quality is suspect, i mean they are cheap by most SxS standards. Keep looking for a BSS, SKB, around 1k...

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

Same here, quality over quantity. Got really proficient with that BSS 12, well balanced, needed a slip on pad for lop and cushioned recoil. Like the pump action i have become less hurried more...

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

Browning replied to my question, admitting an error to the bps 10's weight which is 10.8 lbs on the 26" barrel model.

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

The BSS is great! I regret selling my BSS (here in fact) to finance a new mud motor- it was a 12 ga pistol grip) BT forearm 1980 beauty- shot my share of ducks with it. I strongly suggest you take...

Re: Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

Esteban, i think you are right favoring the 12 (and 20) over the ten. If we had geese here it might be more defensible. I am actually leaning to the bps 20 to use for both ducks n turkey. I have an...

Browning BPS composite field 10 gauge

Looked on the Browning site, this current 2020 10 gauge model is listed at 8 lbs!! I have known all previous models start at 10 lbs!! Heck, my 1998 BPS stalker 12 gauge 30" barrel gun is 8.1 lbs!...

Re: Talking turkey

Well got to hunt two days, morning and afternoon on one of them. Heard gobbling and that was good. WMA camp closed on march 23, so i headed home with my small camper the afternoon before. Wish i...

Re: Talking turkey

Big gobbler tracks are truly inspiring, saw a caracara , been a while. Sandhills are now a spring fixture. Camp is quiet, expecting stars and maybe a coyote in the wee hours...

Re: Talking turkey

You got to hunt! I was going to try Big Cypress but will save up energy for north of sr 70. Cordiality is a plus- I know if I see a vehicle ahead of me I will go to plan B or C, D and so on.

Re: Talking turkey

Scouted again. Observed finally the quarry and what a thrill to play the wind and get close! You study the tracks, the position of the sun, the available shade and cover, play out in your mind the...

Re: Talking turkey

Set up camp and scouted. More water than this time last year. For sure a wet winter. Mostly hog rootings but betwixt them some gobbler tracks. I was hoping for more prescribed burns but only a small...

Re: Talking turkey

I have been able to store and keep usable some mouth calls for several seasons. The only two Woodhaven calls purchased were no good after two seasons- disappointing and they were not cheap. The...

Re: Talking turkey

Got my 3" Sinclair brass pot call with a walnut base...he had some beautiful exotic woods but I am most happy with the build and the sound! He supplied a wooden striker (not sure of type) and a small...

Re: Talking turkey

Waiting on my brass pot call, ready to experiment with different strikers. My Irish Setter boots are incredibly light, feel more like sneakers. Yeah they have laces and it takes a few more seconds to...

Re: Talking turkey

Re: Talking turkey/ all day hunting??

Should be interesting, the fact that many WMA's have gone to all day hunting this spring! I have been perfectly happy with the previous format of hunting till 1 pm. I would take a break, have lunch,...

Re: Talking turkey

Good advice! I plan to be there early. Birthday's coming up, so with ducking winding down, a new call for my arsenal and serious practice is in order!

Re: Talking turkey

Good, will get some. I know there are many options for the type of wood for the pot, as well as the striker. Hope to get some insights from the makers.
